First established as a local builder in 1978, this family run business in Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, has grown to become a highly respected, multi-discipline main contractor and developer, working on projects across the UK. As a Chartered Building Company, they specialise in the design and construction of affordable housing, industrial and commercial projects, and private developments.
A recent project for the company is a private development of 20 detached and 10 semi-detached three, four, and five-bedroom homes on Elliott Road, March, Cambridgeshire. Constructed using ECO 100 timber frame structures, which provide a low-carbon alternative to traditional brick-built homes, the development is nearing completion after an 18-month build period.
For the landscaping of the front and rear gardens of the development and its public areas, the contractor used 660 tonnes of British Sugar TOPSOIL’s Landscape20 general purpose topsoil. This was delivered to site in 8-wheeled tipper lorries and laid to a depth of 150mm. It was then levelled out to a fine tilth by landscapers and turfed.
Landscape20 is the only topsoil to hold the NHBC Accepts accreditation. It is BS3882:2015-compliant and provides contractors with reassurance that they are using a sustainable, safe, and fully tested and analysed material. This is particularly important for residential and school developments.
Burmor’s site manager for the project, Alex Lowndes, said:
