The redevelopment of a former brownfield site at Beevor Street, to the southwest of Lincoln city centre and adjacent to the University of Lincoln’s main campus, includes new offices and car parking. Working for the main contractor, Dowling Civil Engineering selected British Sugar TOPSOIL’s Landscape20 BS3882:2015-compliant general purpose topsoil for the car park planting beds and to remediate areas where asbestos had been present.
The topsoil was delivered in 20 tonne loads on 8-wheeled tipper lorries between late September 2022 and January 2023 and spread to a depth of 300mm over a geotextile membrane. The beds have now been planted with shrubs and mulched to restrict weed growth.
