Specialist golf landscape contractor Ely Golf Ltd is currently implementing the renovation of Caversham Heath Golf Club in advance of its merger with nearby Reading Golf Club. Canadian golf course architect Tom McBroom is responsible for the design and for overseeing the project and Ely Golf Ltd is the principal contractor.
As part of the renovation, new bunker surrounds have been constructed by Ely Golf, using 290 tonnes of British Sugar TOPSOIL’s Landscape20 topsoil, to create a largely stone-free bunker edge prior to turfing.
Mark Ely, principal at Ely Golf, selected Landscape20 for its shape-holding properties and low stone content: “The soil is easy to work with and compact, which is helpful when shaping the bunker edge, and the absence of larger stones is important to create a smooth surface for turfing
