Bourne Hill Stables in Horsham is home to top international showjumper Jane Annett and her partner Roland Standley. Following a major redevelopment of the grounds it is now one of the UK’s most exclusive equestrian developments.
The design of the new outdoor show jumping arena uses a similar profile to that used at Hickstead and the RDS Arena, with the soil being a critical component. Project managers Hayden Turfcare Ltd, who also designed the arena, used 4,000 tonnes of British Sugar TOPSOIL’s Landscape20 topsoil instead of sand to allow for natural nutrient retention, surface stability and moisture retention. Installation of a bypass drainage system connecting the surface to the gravel raft underneath allows the surface to drain.
