Understanding Soil
Topsoil - what is it ?
Good topsoil is a mixture of mineral particles, water, nutrients, organic matter, air and living organisms. Exact proportions of each are not particularly critical but to constitute a “good” soil it should contain all these elements. Ideally it should conform to the newly revised 'British Standard for topsoil' BS3882:2007.
